What you need to Bring and what you have to Leave at home.

We are sorry to say that dogs can't come to Meredith this year, for insurance reasons. We have always loved having dogs at Meredith, and the dogs seem to enjoy themselves as well, but you'll have to leave them at home this year.

Bring These Things

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GET THERE.

These will be on a paper you get with purchase of ticket, or read and print out the map on the Getting There page. The route to the new site is the same as the route to the old site, so go exactly the same way, and our staff will guide you to the camping grounds once you get to the farm.

YOUR TICKET

No entry without it and none for sale at the gate. So get one now.

SOMETHING TO SLEEP IN

From past experiences, here are some suggestions:

  • A tent. Don't forget the tent pegs. (If you drive, you can park the car next to your tent.)
  • Your clothes
  • The car
  • A sleeping bag/doona/blankets - Here at Team Meredith we use and recommend Snowgum products. Visit the Snowgum website for their range of outdoor goods and store

SENSIBLE CLOTHES

It's December in Victoria so we could get hailstorms, blazing heat or both. Check the weather forecast. Then disregard it and pack for the extremes anyway. Bring a couple of changes of clothes. Even if it's hot and sunny when you leave home it could be cold overnight

SUNGLASSES, HAT, SUNSCREENS, LONGSLEEVE SHIRT etc.

Please, please bring these things. Sunburn ain't no fun for nobody.

PHOTO ID

If you are over 18 and wish to gain access to The Pink Flamingo Bar. The Pink Flamingo is a licensed bar for over 18's only and has a strict entry policy. Fake Ids wont work there so leave them at home.

BRING SOME MONEY FOR FOOD

...If you aren't bringing your own. We have an International Food Court set up close to the action. There are the Hare Krishna's with vegetarian and wholesome treats on offer, who prefer to convert Festival-goers to their food than their religion. Also there is the local townspeople's 24-hour sprawling epi-centre of fried, grilled and baked delights. Their breakfasts on Sunday are recommended. Also Famous Farak's fresh juices and smoothies, and fresh homemade ice-creams are on sale. Plus there are Pizza by the metre stalls, wholesome Asian delights from Swell, and a bigger variety of gourmet food stalls this year than ever before. All the food stalls are very reasonably priced.

Bring $25 for the 2002 commemorative MEREDITH T-SHIRT.

We suggest you BRING A MOBILE PHONE if you have access to one. There are no landline public phones on site. There are more public phones in the town of Meredith, 10 minutes drive from the site, but if you have a mobile, bring it. Coverage on the farm is improving all the time; you may have go to the highest part of the site to get a signal.

Taxis are at an absolute premium out there; a small number are available but we suggest you book one if you need one.

Leave These Things at Home

GLASS BOTTLES OF ANY KIND AT ALL

Every person and car is searched for glass, if glass is found it will be confiscated. Sorry to sound like a schoolteacher, but its better than having your foot cut open.

There are no naked flames permitted at Meredith. It is far too dry for BBQs. So DON'T BRING BBQS, GAS COOKERS etc. We do not restrict any food or drink being brought in - e.g. we don't outlaw water to make you buy ours. Bring whatever food you like, as long as it doesn't need to be cooked using a naked flame. Ditto drinks, as long as there's no glass.

DO NOT BRING GAS BOTTLES OR GAS COOKERS OR BBQS. THEY WILL BE CONFISCATED AT THE GATE

DOGS

We are sorry to say that dogs can't come to Meredith this year, for insurance reasons. We have always loved having dogs at Meredith, and the dogs seem to enjoy themselves as well, but you'll have to leave them at home this year.

DICKHEADS

We don't want them either.
